TAYABASIN KA BA?

When going to Manila I passed Tayabas, When going to Infanta I also passed Tayabas. Geez... I don't know a lot in this place, that is why i'm surprised when saying comes that this place will be one of the cities of Quezon Province(with Lucena) and it does!.

I really don't know what is the basis of transforming Tayabas into a city. There is no article about to read, some says it is because the population, some are establishments. In our PHILGOV class, one accidentally open that topic cause we are discussing an article about land I think. Yeah my professor says that having large land territory is the basis of transforming Tayabas into a city. Now I knew... I look for description of Tayabas City and here it goes.

A land-locked town within the Province of Quezon, Tayabas is situated at the south-eastern foothills of one of the famous volcanoes in the country: Mt. Banahaw. It is encircled by several municipalities of Quezon Province: Lucban, Mauban and Sampaloc to the north; Atimonan and Pagbilao to the south-east; Lucena City to the south; and Sariaya to the west. It likewise shares its boundary with the Province of Laguna in its north-eastern extremity. It lies some 150 Km. southeast of Manila and only about 10 km. from the provincial capital, Lucena City.

Tayabas has a total land area of 23,095 hectares divided among its 66 barangays, 19 of which are within the Poblacion; 47 classified as rural with respective areas ranging from a mere 10 hectares to an enormous 3,002.41 hectares. The compact urban core measures only 82.15 hectares which is less than one (1) percent of the total land area.

Wew i had just copy paste them lol... What do I know about Tayabas?

The Lambanog

If you’re particularly searching for the most traditional way of drinking (inuman) in the Philippines, you shouldn’t miss this place in Quezon called City of Tayabas. The art of drinking has its own roots in every place but all are one in the name of spirit and tradition, that is celebration! And there has got to be something special that we look forward to in drinking in this city, where traces of history can be found in every street you trek. What else could that be but the famous coco vodka – “lambanog.” Lambanog is a famous drink among Filipinos and you can find one of the richest and most flavorful beverages only in Tayabas.

Puente del Malagonlong
A declared historical site by the National Historical Institute, Malagonlong is a 445 foot-long bridge built in 1840. It was the longest bridge ever made during the Spanish colonial era with approximately 100,000 adobe blocks used. I've been there and that is a lovely place... Good to look at...

I'm honored to be the part of the SEO team who are optimizing tayabas.ph a website which is didicated for city of Tayabas and developed by qtechbpo a Business Process Outsourcing agency. Testing SEO with "tayabas"... GOOGLE IT BOY!!!

Risk!!! Beware...

In project development not only the Project Management should be consider. Also the risks that is associated with it and ways to manage those risk. Let me define risk first. KEEP IN MIND

RISK
... can be defined as “the threat or probability that an action or event, will adversely or beneficially affect an organization's ability to achieve its objectives”. In other words risk is ‘Uncertainty of Outcome’, either from pursuing a future positive opportunity, or an existing negative threat in trying to achieve a current objective. So how this will be treated? It defends on you of how will you manage those risk. You may avoid them or you may bet with them...

As far as my course going, the PROJECT MANAGEMENT in STI College Lucena. We have this word RISK as our latest topic. Our professor gives us fluent definition of this. Then he gave us examples of these risks. As I learned in that discussion, RISK is really associated with Project Management, Yeah... Why?... Coz two main issues in the Project Management are risks. What was them? The Time Scheduling and Budgeting.

Risks I had remember in my course Discussion
  • Time Scheduling - Consider this risk as must, neglect of time can lead to unfinished projects or doesn't make guarantee and satisfaction.
  • Budgeting- Don't take the risk of spending lot of money in the development, think of other risk related with it. Project can be expensive but must be worth it.
As DLM Research Group continueing the development of website Online Business Directory of Lucena City, a online yellow page of businesses based in Lucena City and Province of Quezon, known as Lucenabiz Directory (Lucena Businesses Directory), I as the group head had experience different risks.

Online Business Directory of Lucena City development Risks
  • Skills - I as a COMPSCi student, I know doesn't have enough skills in developing websites. I know HTML lil cause i had taken seminar ones and that helps me to take this risk. Good that had and taked seminar on CMS that gave me a boost to grab Lucenabiz.
  • Groupmates - This one is related with the first one, as I relate. At first, we had meeting of what role of each of us should be. We derived that I will be the lead developer, my job is to develop the websites functions, my other groupmates said that he will be the documentarist, and the other one take the graphics management. Yeah that was good that we have our own task but, for me it doesn't right that each of us will stick to what we already know. Then I decided to change the role, each of us have different module to work for. The risk here is about the study, not about the project. We'll going to finish the project yeah, but member's willn't have the experience to develop with the technology used.
  • Project Management - AAHH!!! This is a risk. Damn this lead is to prons and cons. For prons see this: http://ittribe.blogspot.com/2008/09/project-management-is-must.html. Cons: Read Below.
So how will this be treated? Each of us must know the RISK MANAGEMENT.

What is RISK MANAGEMENT?... Can become a process of identifying the negatives of why a decision or action/opportunity should not be taken which leads to opportunities not being pursued. Risk management is not a process of completely avoiding risk, but more a process which if used effectively can help pursue innovative opportunities with higher level of risk, because exposure to risk is understood and managed down to acceptable levels.

Wew... So this will be the end of my article thanks for reading...

Project Management is a must !!!

Yes... Project Management is a must... And yes we can make projects without it... as I did before... Disregarding the time and cost consumed I was able to finished those projects. It is because those are not big as what I have now. Because of what I have practiced, I recognized that it is now hard to me to handle my projects. Geez, I wasn't able to finished two of those on time. And as of now I still thinking how will I work of them with my Thesis. Yeah my projects become more and more and more because i was not able to finish the on time.

Great that now I have my Project Management class... now i realized and appreciate that Project Management is a must. But still I'm suffering hard time in managing our project, our Thesis. What we have is an Online Business Directory of Lucena City With CMS that offers free business and adverstisement listings. With a litte e-commerce included in selling premiums such as Banners, Premium Listings, and Hot Grabs posting.

We use different tools in managing our projects as we learn in our Project Managements class.

1. Gantt Chart with Milestone

I remember when I first used it on our assignment in my Project Mangement
class. I made them on MSPROJECT, the Milestone with Gannt Chart. It also can be made in MSEXCEL.

Provides a graphical illustration of a schedule that helps to plan, coordinate, and track specific tasks in a project. To visualize... it is constructed with a horizontal axis representing the total time span of the project. Horizontal bars of varying lengths represent the sequences, timing, and time span for each task. Using the same example, you would put "conduct research" at the top of the verticle axis and draw a bar on the graph that represents the amount of time you expect to spend on the research, and then enter the other tasks below the first one and representative bars at the points in time when you expect to undertake them. The bar spans may overlap, as, for example, you may conduct research and choose software during the same time span. As the project progresses, secondary bars, arrowheads, or darkened bars may be added to indicate completed tasks, or the portions of tasks that have been completed. A vertical line is used to represent the report date. Yeah... Gantt Chart harts give a clear illustration of project status, but one problem with them is that they don't indicate task dependencies - you cannot tell how one task falling behind schedule affects other tasks. This task can handle with another method called PERT.

2. PERT/CPM

This is also supported by MSPROJECT. We used this too in our assignment and I easilly learned it.

First the PERT stands for Program Evaluation Review Technique and used to schedule, organize, and coordinate tasks within a project. A PERT chart presents a graphic illustration of a project as a network diagram consisting of numbered nodes (either circles or rectangles) representing events, or milestones in the project linked by labelled vectors (directional lines) representing tasks in the project. The direction of the arrows on the lines indicates the sequence of tasks. In the diagram, for example, the tasks between nodes 1, 2, 4, 8, and 10 must be completed in sequence. These are called dependent or serial tasks. The tasks between nodes 1 and 2, and nodes 1 and 3 are not dependent on the completion of one to start the other and can be undertaken simultaneously. These tasks are called parallel or concurrent tasks. Tasks that must be completed in sequence but that don't require resources or completion time are considered to have event dependency. These are represented by dotted lines with arrows and are called dummy activities. For example, the dashed arrow linking nodes 6 and 9 indicates that the system files must be converted before the user test can take place, but that the resources and time required to prepare for the user test (writing the user manual and user training) are on another path. Numbers on the opposite sides of the vectors indicate the time allotted for the task.

On the other hand the CPM, stands for Critical Path Method. This provides the following benefits:
  • Graphical view of the project.
  • Predicts the time required to complete the project.
  • Shows which activities are critical to maintaining the schedule and which are not.
3. SCurve

I never use this yet. So i had make reserch and ask friends for help. The S Curve is a well known project management tool and it consists in "a display of cumulative costs, labor hours or other quantities plotted against time".The name derives from the S-like shape of the curve, flatter at the beginning and end and steeper in the middle, because this is the way most of the projects look like. Based on our actual project see link below:

5. WBS

Work Breakdown Structure is a results-oriented family tree that captures all the work of a project in an organized way. It is often portrayed graphically as a hierarchical tree, however, it can also be a tabular list of "element" categories and tasks or the indented task list that appears in your Gantt chart schedule. I never use this yet too. So i'll display just put a link for you to check. see link...

STI College Lucena Sports Fest 1st Day

It is so funny that I wrote about the 2nd day before the 1st day of the intramurals. hehehe It's because the 2nd day inspired me a lot. Well in the 1st day... STI College Lucena launches "FUN RUN" why? if students walk? it's better "FUN WALK" lol just kidding... I don't have so much things to write here because it is not so meaningful to me. It's just CSIT(Yellow) lost the first game in basketball with BSN(Pink). Lol The road runners VS. Giants... Then CSIT comeback with a win with BSBA/BSCOE(Green Team). Then Volleyball... hays I want to play but theres a lot of people there. What will i do? tell one of them "get out! i will play!!" haha that was impolite. It's because practising make us accurate and I dont have practice... I remember the last time I played volleyball after my elementary times is in our P.E.3 Class? o see i cant remember... but sure it is P.E. with Sir Rafilo. It is nice that McDO(Sybang) is on the battle. He owned the court... With his unexpected SPIKE!!! and strong services, thier enemies touches the ground and lead CSIT in winning. YEAH!!! MCDO MCDO GO MCDO!!! hehehehe Special Force malakas din yan... ahahha OWWWWW!!! I forgot Idol(Sandro Muena) he loss his fight with the battle of the brain CHESS... its because he has no brain? lol just kidding!!! it is normal to make a joke with idol so don't think I mean it. Oh yeaH!!!! TRISTAN... "The God of PingPong" fought on his defending title and still STI College Lucena PingPong Champion after defeating DCET which is twice to beat in the fight... wow thats great... I remember last year they are the same rival in the game... which Tristan is the twice to beat player and owned the table... pakain ka naman... Thanks again for reading my article. Morfs

STI College Lucena Sports Fest 2nd Day

Whoah!!! This is really a tiring days in STI College Lucena. I was in the first and second day of the the intramural but today which is the the last day i think i can't attend on it. My head is aching because of heat. It is good that my classmates does not attending the fest but spending their time on making their thesis without thinking that friends who are participating the activities needs supports from them. Yeah... that is right... I can remember when dex texted me the whole night to watch him on the court on his fight on badminton. So I went there and support them. I cheered for them, make a little noise, and laugh when there is something funny. lols mostly on dex when he is outside on court. Looking at on every beautiful girls playing and passing by. Then he plays with his crush? i dont know... this was Jackie and Gean? I can't remember thier names. They are our classmates in Philman. Wew... that was really funny indeed. I was happy when they defeat nursing and DCET in doubles. What a nice fight with DCET. Rumored that thier Ace Player which the nephew of one of the STI Staff was trained hard for badminton. I remember when Man Rhoda approched Dex and Shawe at the bench before the game and says: "Wag nyo naman galingan kami na kasunod nyo kalaban eh". And after the game: "Si Dex sabi ng wag galingan eh". That was a good fight and really had a happy ending... But it is sad to know that they had loss in the last game the championship. Geez, I wasn't able to watch them because it starts in the afternoon and we went home because of "inip". We are there from 8 till afternoon. We are hungry and need to eat lols. But we are sorry to Dex for living the venue. And I am so touched when he texted me and says " Sorry tol talo eh". Wew I think DIT? won the fight. And they are really good players as we saw in thier fight with COE. But still I am so proud of DEXTER he is a great at "poging" badminton player. I also congratulates Yellow Team Badminton Girls Doubles for being champions and also to all who owned the fight. Thank You for Reading my article.... Morfs
